Working Still Harder

The authors use data from the British Skills and Employment Surveys to document try account for sustained work intensification between 2001 2017. They estimate determinants of intensity, first using four waves pooled cross-section data, then a constructed pseudo-panel occupation–industry cells. latter approach suggests biases in models associated with unobserved fixed effects specific occupations industries. analysis can slightly more than half (51%) variables that measure effort-biased technological change, organizational growing requirement learning new things, rise self-employment. interpret these within power-resources framework.
